TORONTO INTERGROUP POSITIONS

INTERGROUP CHAIR:

Prepares and coordinates agenda for the monthly meetings. Maintains order during meetings and ensures that the Agenda is achieved. Presides over Intergroup meetings and coordinates activities involving other Intergroup officers, group representatives and committees.  Maintains a decision log of all decisions made by Intergroup, and regularly distributes to Intergroup members.  Also responsible for carrying the key to the Toronto Intergroup Post Office Box, and regularly checking the box as well as delegating responsibility to another trusted servant to share the responsibility of checking the box. 

Requires 2 years of abstinence and regular attendance at GA meetings.  

INTERGROUP CO-CHAIR:

In the absence of the Chairperson, prepares and coordinates agenda for the monthly meetings. Presides over the Intergroup meetings and coordinates activities involving other Intergroup officers, group representatives and committees. Performs other assigned tasks from the Chairperson to facilitate Toronto Intergroup business requirements.

Requires 2 years of abstinence and regular attendance at GA meetings.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS & CORRESPONDENCE:

Responsible for receiving and responding to any correspondence received, collecting a list of GA announcements and events, sending out regular email updates of announcements to GA members, maintaining the GA email distribution list and delivering a monthly report to Intergroup. To maintain, update and distribute meeting lists as per the Guidance Code. Requires 1 year of abstinence and regular attendance at GA meetings.

 

Meetings Chair Responsibilities

  • Maintaining new and changed meeting information.

  • Distributing all meeting information to Website, Announcements and Phone Chairs.

  • Ensuring the website is updated on a regular basis.

  • Maintaining a list of present and past meeting locations.

  • Updating ISO website meeting information to coordinate with gatoronto.ca website.

  • Maintaining a contact list of meetings and trusted servants, if possible.

  • Maintaining and distributing a Toronto Intergroup New Meeting Welcome Package. Eg. Intergroup email addresses, table cards, Instructions on how to donate to Intergroup.

  • Maintaining a process sheet on how to start a new meeting.

  • Promoting the meetings@gatoronto.ca email address.

  • 1 year of abstinence required.


PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR:

To coordinate public relations activities. To quickly deal with all inquiries from the telephone, mail and email.  To conduct outreach activities on both traditional and digital platforms including, but not limited to, newspaper ads, posters, internet, social media.  Requires 2 years of abstinence and regular attendance at GA meetings.

TREASURER:

To collect, record and prepare for disbursement all funds from the groups. To prepare a monthly statement of finances. To oversee and work with the supply coordinator.

SUPPLIES COORDINATOR:

To order and distribute supplies for Toronto Intergroup. To work with the treasurer and insure that all supplies and literature are readily available, including a supply of new member packets and meeting lists. To deliver supplies to Groups, as requested. Collects monies and delivers same to Treasurer.

Requires 2 years of abstinence and regular attendance at GA meetings.

RECORDING SECRETARY:

To record the minutes of Intergroup meetings and distribute them to Intergroup members no more than 7 days after the Intergroup meeting. To provide copies of documents to all groups, if and when applicable. To make all necessary changes to the "Toronto Intergroup By-Laws"(date of last change to be indicated) as voted upon by the Toronto Intergroup. The recording secretary will assume all responsibility to note all additions as part of his/her duties. All changes shall be immediately made part of the "Toronto Intergroup By-Laws ". Copies of the addendum, changes or supplements will be provided to each group on an annual basis by the recording secretary. Shall capture and maintain a list of agreed upon action items. Shall maintain an updated list of Intergroup Member names, telephone numbers and email addresses and distribute via email and hard-copy upon changes.

TELEPHONE RING CENTRAL/VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR:

To act as a liaison between the ISO, Ring Central and the Toronto Intergroup. Responsible for configuration of the Ring Central system. To arrange for complete and continual coverage of the telephone service. To expedite responses to all inquiries, in particular calls for assistance. To compile statistics relating to the number of calls received and their disposition, and to report that information at the monthly Intergroup meeting. To manage a volunteer pool responsible for handling inbound telephone calls for assistance. To assemble and maintain a Toronto-area telephone list.

Requires 1 year of abstinence and regular attendance at GA meetings.

 

WEBSITE ADMINISTRATOR:

To maintain an updated website, providing information about Gamblers Anonymous, meetings in Toronto and Ontario, and about events, via the World Wide Web to Compulsive Gamblers and others. Responsible for keeping the Gamblers Anonymous Toronto website up to date with announcements, events, meeting changes and other information as required. Responsible for driving traffic to the Gamblers Anonymous Toronto website through Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Google Ads or other mechanisms. Also responsible for ensuring electronic documents of all meeting minutes, committee reports and other documents are available via a password-protected portion of the site.

Requires 1 year of abstinence and regular attendance at GA meetings.

 

PRESSURE Relief GROUP COORDINATOR:

To render assistance, when requested, to any member of the Area 4 Gamblers Anonymous fellowship with at least one month abstinence and regular attendance at GA meetings.

Requires 2 year of abstinence and regular attendance at GA meetings.

SOCIAL CONVENER:

To plan and organize events for Gamblers Anonymous members, and perhaps their families, with the primary purpose of bringing people together and promoting Unity within the Fellowship. Also responsible for planning and organizing at least 2 Intergroup Fellowship events per year.

Requires 1 year of abstinence and regular attendance at GA meetings.

PRISON GROUP COORDINATOR:

To manage relationships with Prisons and Institutions helping arrange and coordinate meetings, assisting in getting literature and meeting lists to the Institutions, helping to get volunteers, facilitators, speakers, etc. and acting as a liaison between Toronto Intergroup and the Institutions.

Requires 1 year of abstinence and regular attendance at GA meetings.

 

MARATHON CHAIR (2):

There are 2 Marathon Chair positions which are elected in alternating years, and last 2 years. Each Chair is responsible to assist with the Marathon in their first year of service, and to Chair the Marathon in their second year of service. To work together with each other to assemble and chair a committee responsible for the planning and execution of the Toronto Intergroup yearly mini-conference (Marathon). Responsible for presenting options, in person or via email, to the Toronto Intergroup on items such as date, venue, speakers, program, price, etc. Intergroup can, if necessary, request the Marathon Committee to make changes, if the need arises. It is the responsibility of the Marathon Chairs to have a detailed budget approved by Intergroup prior to any contracts being signed or monies being spent. The Marathon Chairs are expected to work with the Marathon Liaison to ensure oversight and alignment with Intergroup. In the second year in this position, the Marathon Chair is responsible to mentor and train the Chair who is in their first year, to ensure they learn everything about organizing and running a Marathon.

MARATHON LIAISON:

This individual will work closely with the Marathon Chair to provide oversight and ensure alignment between the Marathon and Toronto Intergroup.  Responsible for ensuring all financial components of the Marathon are balanced, accounted for and properly documented in coordination with the Intergroup Treasurer.  The liaison will also assist in ensuring the approved budget is adhered to. This position is appointed by the presiding Intergroup Chair at the February or March meeting.
